PROCEDURE
We use state of the art equipment and material approved by the state of California for the procedure (before we start with the procedure forms must be filled out as required by State law).
We start by cleaning the facial area properly. We will draw the shape of the lips as agreed upon earlier, sterilize the surface, and then apply topical anesthetic (cream and/or gel).
We begin to insert the pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. When finished, the pigment will look 40 to 50% darker then the color you have chosen. Within the next 3 to 4 days it will fade and the color that you have chosen will appear. The treatment generally takes between 1 to 2 hours and should leave you with natural enhanced lips.
RETOUCH
It is recommended that you return for a second touch up within 6 to 10 weeks. It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes; we will be adding more pigment to the brow area. During the healing process, some parts of the skin in the brow area may not hold the pigment well and we may need to add more. This is completely normal and it is important to remember that everyone heals differently.
LIP-BLUSH
A cosmetic tattooing machine used to gently implant pigment into the skin creating dimension, using a fading (shading) technique used to achieve a soft and smooth look, giving volume and color to the lips appearance. We can combine more than two or three colors in order to achieve dimension and a sensual fullness effect.
LIP GLOW
During the first melanin rich lip correction session it is important to neutralize cool tones and lift the darkness of the lips We do this with the help of warm based pigment working with red/orange based colors to get your desired look. Consultation & Hair Analysis
We start with a thorough consultation where we:
Assess your pattern of hair loss (Norwood/Ludwig pattern, diffuse thinning, scars)

First SMP Session – Foundation Layer
During your first SMP session:
The scalp is cleansed and prepped
We may trim hair depending on your chosen style
I begin implanting pigment in a light, strategic pattern to create a foundational layer
This session:
Establishes overall pattern, shape, and tone
Is intentionally kept softer—we build gradually
Typically lasts 2–4 hours, depending on the work area
You leave with a visible improvement, but we will still be working in a gradual, controlled way for realism.
Second & Third Sessions – Density & Detail
Most SMP results require 2–3 sessions total.
In these subsequent visits, we:
Increase density and layering in key areas
Adjust tone and spacing for a natural blend
Refine hairline softness or strength as you see it heal
Camouflage remaining irregularities or scars
Appointments are usually spaced 1–3 weeks apart, allowing us to see how your skin responds and to make precise adjustments.
Healing & Long-Term Maintenance
SMP healing is usually straightforward:
Mild redness for 24–48 hours
Light flaking or dryness as the skin regenerates
Color softens slightly as it settles into the skin
You receive clear SMP-specific aftercare, including:
