Areola Restorative Tattoo

Areola Restorative Tattoo in Santa Rosa, California

Art that helps you feel whole again.

I am Yolanda Álvarez – USA Champion in Realistic Areola Tattooing, 5x International PMU Champion in Brows, Areola & Eyeliner, and an international award winner in worldwide areola competitions, including Milan.

I did not come into this industry only to do eyeliner or brows. I stepped into paramedical tattooing because I wanted to offer this exact service to women—to stand beside you at the end of a very long road and say:

“You deserve to feel beautiful and whole again.”

WHY Areola Tattoo MATTERS

There are journeys in life that change everything. Surviving breast cancer or major breast surgery is one of them.

When reconstruction is “finished” but the areola is missing, many women tell me the same thing:

“I’m grateful to be alive, but when I look in the mirror, something still feels unfinished.”

Areola restorative tattooing is the final, artistic step that can help you feel more complete, more yourself, and more at peace with your reflection.

LIP_BLUSH Explained

LIPS STEP-BY-STEP

PROCEDURE

We use state of the art equipment and material approved by the state of California for the procedure (before we start with the procedure forms must be filled out as required by State law).

We start by cleaning the facial area properly. We will draw the shape of the lips as agreed upon earlier, sterilize the surface, and then apply topical anesthetic (cream and/or gel).

We begin to insert the pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. When finished, the pigment will look 40 to 50% darker then the color you have chosen. Within the next 3 to 4 days it will fade and the color that you have chosen will appear. The treatment generally takes between 1 to 2 hours and should leave you with natural enhanced lips.

RETOUCH

It is recommended that you return for a second touch up within 6 to 10 weeks. It usually takes 30 to 60 minutes; we will be adding more pigment to the brow area. During the healing process, some parts of the skin in the brow area may not hold the pigment well and we may need to add more. This is completely normal and it is important to remember that everyone heals differently.

We can combine more than two or three colors in order to achieve dimension and a sensual fullness effect.

LIP GLOW

During the first melanin rich lip correction session it is important to neutralize cool tones and lift the darkness of the lips We do this with the help of warm based pigment working with red/orange based colors to get your desired look. MY WHY – HOW AREOLA TATTOOING BECAME MY MISSION

My Why: Why I Chose Areola Restoration as My Calling

Before competitions, before medals, before world stages—there was a simple desire in my heart:

to use my art to help women heal.

When I first learned that areola tattoos could help breast cancer survivors and post-surgery clients feel whole again, something clicked inside me. This was not just technique. This was purpose.

I dedicated myself to mastering this craft:

I trained, practiced, and refined until my work in areola became championship-level, earning the title of USA Areola Champion. I competed internationally and received top recognitions in worldwide events, including awards in Milan specifically for areola artistry. I continued to learn from surgeons, nurses, and survivors, so that my work would be not only realistic, but deeply respectful.

But what matters most to me is not the trophies—it is the quiet moment when a client sees herself in the mirror and her eyes fill with tears. Not from sadness, but from recognition:

“That’s me. I’m back.”

That is why this service exists in my studio. That is why I treat it as a sacred responsibility, not just another procedure

WHAT IS AREOLA RESTORATIVE TATTOOING?

Areola restorative tattooing (also called 3D areola tattoo or areola micropigmentation) is a form of paramedical tattooing that uses color, shape, light, and shadow to:

-Recreate the appearance of a natural areola after mastectomy or surgery

-Visually simulate a nipple and areola in 3D—without additional surgery

-Soften the look of scars and restore balance and symmetry to the chest

I use:

-Custom-mixed pigments that harmonize with your skin tone

-Advanced 3D shading techniques to create the illusion of volume and texture

-Careful mapping, sizing, and placement so the areola feels like it belongs to your body

You remain in control at every step—size, color, and shape are chosen with you, not for you.

YOUR AREOLA JOURNEY – STEP BY STEP

  • Private, Compassionate Consultation

We begin with a private phone or online consultation, where we:

    • Talk about your surgery, scars, and timeline

    • Explore your goals: natural, lighter, darker, smaller, larger, symmetrical

    • Answer your questions about comfort, safety, healing, and insurance support

There is no pressure—only information, empathy, and clarity.

If you’ve ever had a cold sore, I will guide you to speak with your doctor about a preventive antiviral prescription to protect your healing.

  • Design, Color & Mapping

    In-studio, we:

    • Discuss size, placement, and shape that feel right to you

    • Test and mix pigments to match or softly enhance your skin tone

    • Draw your areolas directly on your skin, so you can see and approve the design

You are always part of the decision. This is your body, your story, your choice.

  • Procedure – Creating Realistic Areola Art

After cleansing and numbing the area, I work in gentle layers:

    • Building base tones for natural color

    • Adding midtones to create soft transitions

    • Placing highlights and shadows to give the illusion of 3D texture and protrusion

Depending on whether we are treating one or both sides, the session usually takes 2–4 hours. Many clients describe the sensation as mild to moderate, especially after reconstruction, where sensitivity may be reduced

  • Healing & Perfecting Session

  • You will receive clear written aftercare instructions to help you heal safely and protect your new art.

    At around 6–10 weeks, we:

    • Review how the color and detail healed

    • Adjust saturation, contrast, and edges as needed

    • Deepen 3D realism so your areola looks soft but lifelike

This Perfecting Session is an important part of the process and is always recommended.
